Total Value Paid In (TVPI) is a key metric used to assess the performance of venture capital funds. It is determined by adding up the current value of the fund’s investments (including unrealized gains) and the cumulative value of distributions (after deducting fees and expenses), and then dividing that sum by the total capital invested in the fund so far, which also includes any recycled capital.
